Flinders Island is an exceptional place and going anywhere on a mountain bike is just plain fun. Put them both together, and it makes for a sensational day out! We invite you to explore Flinders with us, and while we’re keeping it real, you can breathe in the ocean air and soak up the sunshine, or wind; whatever is prevailing on the day!! All tours include pick up and drop off from Whitemark, the “Capital of Flinders”, National Park fees, Morning Tea, Gourmet lunch and a MBFI drink bottle. All tours will need a minimum of two guests to go ahead, but will have no more than six. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

Cycle2 Rock and Sea

Mt.Tanner and Castle Rock

This tour is aptly named! It includes two rides, a monolithic granite boulder and a sea that has lured everything from shipwrecks to fishermen to photographers! Our first ride is what we call our warm up ride; an easy 5km return trip on a winding gravel road through coastal grasslands and bushland, past an old lagoon to the amazing rock tucked in behind the sand dunes that has impressed many. Then we take another drive and soon find ourselves on a very humble and intriguing gravel road with hidden beaches on one side and hills of Blue Gums, Peppermint Gums, She-oaks and Cape Barren Pines on the other. At the top of the highest peak in the north of the Island, Mount Tanner, we jump on our bikes again. Mount Tanner stands at a nice 331 metres, and has for us an adventurous downhill fire trail for us to tackle. It’s descent is steady and fun and full of laughs! We follow the mountain down to meet Boat Harbour Road and travel down a gentle slope under a canopy of magnificent gums. We reach Killiecrankie Bay, the keeper of fishing boats and many provocative tales. Killiecrankie Bay is a popular beach for visitors and residents to beachcomb, swim, fossick and rock hop. After enjoying our Gourmet Lunch at the Bay, we head back to Whitemark, energised yet content from the experience. Mountain Biking Flinders Island is very excited to bring their Cycle2 Rock and Sea tour every Thursday. It offers a wonderful day journey for people eager to see a lot in a short amount of time. It has a bit of everything Flinders Island has to offer; rugged coastlines, wild seas, impressive mountains, wildlife and lots of activity!

Ride Strz

Big River to Unavale Vineyard

With names like Mount Razorback, Pigs Head Point and Tin Kettle Island, one can be easily intrigued to explore the inner soul and surrounds of Strzelecki National Park. The inclination is deserving; this remote and rugged track we have access to is nature and existence at its best. This ride is for the adventurers, the explorers and those who like to see what’s around the next corner. It’s for the ones who want to get safely lost and breathe in the wilderness beside The Franklin Sound. You’ll have to give some pedal power to get up, down and around Strzelecki, and your feet might get wet, and for your efforts, you will be rewarded. To describe this ride in mere words is not just, so we want to show it to you. Although, we will say one other thing; be sure to wear your swimmers! When our ride concludes, we have a gourmet lunch in the most delightful vineyard. Unavale is owned by local winemakers and their vines are neatly tucked in behind native ti-tree and gums beside the Samphire River. We have chosen a perfect spot to unwind and let your day’s journey seep into your memory.

Explore Emita with us

Emita Beaches and The Furneaux Museum

On sunny days, our Emita ride is surrounded by calm and colourful beaches that beg to be walked on, to have its fine sand underneath your feet. On rough days, the seas are choppy and wayward, and the waves crash against the rocks; a hint on how there came to be over 120 shipwrecks in the Furneaux Islands. On every day, no matter the weather, Emita is a place that holds many a piece of Flinders Island history; interesting, important and especially unique. Facts and tales of old will have you remembering, and your mind imagining. See the old jetties and find out why they were built. Ride through Wybalenna and learn the stories of how things came to be. Visit the must-see museum and wonder at the treasure troves of artefacts and recollections of our amazing Flinders Island and outer islands. Our Emita Bike tour truly is a wonderful experience for those looking for something they’ve never done before, and for those that like to marvel at past ingenuity and courage. We invite you to pedal and explore Emita with us, and we promise-there is only one great burn for your leg muscles!
